After teaching for a year in Korea, I stopped by Thailand for a visit with my family who had flown over for a two week visit. I ended up staying six months in "Amazing Thailand".

Kata Beach

This was a view overlooking my home of Kata beach. The little island is Koh Pu and was a great local dive site. I immediately booked a dive trip to the Similan Islands where my dive-bug caught and I decided to enroll in my divemaster course at Phuket Scuba Club.

This is the front of the famous "long-tail' boats. We would use them to make our local dives off Kata Beach. Garlands of flowers were always put around the bow.

Here I (in red hat) contemplating which dried squid or calimari I wanted for dinner. These little meat wagons rolled around by the bars in the late evening and served some of the best shisk-i-bobs and seafood....if you dared.

My mom and brother and sister-in-law (above) stayed for a while and enjoyed the snorkeling and baby elephants.
