More Taxco, Acapulco, and the beach of Zipolite!!

TAXCO AND MEXICAN BEACHES

After staying here for 5 days, we found more than just silver in this town. There was plenty of wood, glass, little baubles to buy, and the best tacos al pastor! The suns below were made out of coconut and the music in the cantina played all night through the walls of our room.

The roads were so tight and windy that we sometimes didn't fit, especially when we were wearing our backpacks.

ACAPULCO

"THE LOVE BOAT...." I couldn't get Brian to stop singing the Love Boat theme....I was trying to find Isaac to make me a drink.

The city was kind of depressing upon arrival, but redeemed itself with the Festivales de Guadalupe which added a great deal of color and music...and the cliff divers were still in action from a height of 35 meters!

There were many processionals to the church in the town center accompanied usually by a trombone and drummer. Women dresses up in gorgeous embroidered shirts and the little boys dressed like Pancho Villa. An impressive display of fireworks was set off outside our room, and rogue "pops" kept us up all night.

ZIPOLITE

This beach is fabled as "southern Mexico's perfect place to lie back and do as little as you like, in as little as you like, for as little as you like". No doubt! This was my 3rd time to this fantastic Pacific beach. It has a killer surf...literally. There were 20 foot waves when we arrived and an undertow with no escape. However, it has a great atmosphere so we stayed a week. Plus, it was a nude beach if you so dared...

The roads still aren't paved here but there wasn't much need to go farther than the restaurant below our room that overlooked the water. We did spend one day out snorkeling with a local guide, Byron Luna, and we saw over a hundred dolphins in the water!
